My longtime best bro, Nick, is really into a yearly word (I think it’s called something, but I don’t remember) so on the last day of my Detroit trip we picked out our word for 2018.
I choose Move.
It goes with a lot of different goals I want to accomplish this year:
- Reading (Move pages)
- Running (Move my feet)
- Finishing my Salesforce training (Move career direction)
- Savings (Move my bank account up)
- Traveling (Move locations) <—- This isn’t really a goal, I think I travel enough without having to make it a goal.
I honestly thought it was dumb to have a word for the year, like some hippy stuff weird, but this last week it’s actually been great for me. We made vision bookmarks with our word and seeing it helps me stay on track for the year.
The top is the word, Move. Because, well duh, that’s the word I’m using.
Then there is an office space at home, to remind me if I finish my Salesforce training I can work remote.
The word SAVE, because although I’m great at retirement savings, I have not been great in recent years at just having a savings account.
Then on the back I have a NO ALCOHOL photo, because I have a goal of not drinking at all in 2018.
A Home Sweet Home, I forget the reason for this one.
A comfy chair, because I want to read more and I ususally read on a comfortable chair.
GOOD NEWS to remind me to read my Bible each day.
I didn’t think this through when we were all making our vision bookmarks, but since my word is on top it also looks snazzy when I’m saving a page.
This week I’ve found myself saying my word when I hadn’t read a chapter of a book and was going to go be lazy and just watch Netflix. It got me back on track. I’d say having a word has been helpful for me so far this year, but since there’s only been about a week so far this year I’d also say it’s too early to tell 🙂
